Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a debilitating skin disease that affects self esteem and quality of life.  It is an autoimmune disease and has no known cause, according to the conventional medical system.  Psoriasis does have a genetic component, but like all other predispositions environment can greatly influence the expression of this disease.

The usual treatments for Psoriasis include steroid cremes and other immuno-suppressant therapies.  However, these are mostly ineffective and the patient begins to suffer from the side effects of the long term treatments without the benefits of a cure.

Like all other autoimmune diseases, balance is key.  By nourishing the body with passive raw materials in the form of herb foods, the cause is addressed.  A major cause of Psoriasis as I see it, is systemic yeast.  The genetic predisposition directs the manifestation of symptoms to a specific organ system, this case being the skin.  When the client eats an abundance of herb foods, the yeast is cleansed out and the Psoriasis resolved.

Yeast, in and of itself, causes autoimmune disease. The human immune system doesn’t have a specific army for fungus and so the fungus drives itself deep into the tissues and blood. The immune system fights and fights and eventually turns against the host..you.  The genetic predisposition determines which organ will be attacked by the immune system.  In the case of Psoriasis, it’s the skin.  I have seen many different kinds of “treatments” out there for Psoriasis. But I have only seen one way to cure.  And that is to feed the body an abundance of herb foods which will drive the fungus out and balance the immune system.

Slim For Summer!

As summer approaches the talk on the street is dieting and slimming down for the pool parties, cruises, the beach, etc.  It can be stressful to diet and most of the time ineffective.  It causes a fluctuation in metabolism and overall health.  Not to mention the mental frustration.

It is less stressful and more effective to simply focus on what the body needs to be healthy.  After all, to be healthy is to be lean! It is more exciting and stable to focus on health, vibrancy, and longevity, rather than the short term goal of quick fat loss. There are just two ideas in regards to food that are necessary to a long term plan of staying slim.

1. Did you know that complex carbohydrates actually burn calories? This is because it takes energy (ATP) to break down the complex sugars. ATP comes from glucose (simple sugar). By eating a diet high in complex carbs you will prevent excess glucose from converting into fat.

Where do complex carbs come from? Plants and only plants. This includes grains and beans (which come from plants). I eat a formula every day called Nuplus which is more dense in complex carbs than brown rice. The more I eat, the faster my metabolism!

2. Raw versus cooked. So you have the complex carb thing down, now one might begin eating a lot of cooked grains. Another key to staying slim in the long term is eating living foods.  Cooked and processed foods take a lot of energy to digest.  And when the body has to work hard to retrieve nutrients, less energy is available for cleansing and breaking down fats.  Fruit takes 20 minutes to go through the entire digestive system and cleans up after itself with the water and fiber inherent.  A salad takes about 2 hours and also does not leave waste behind.  Most cooked dishes take 8 or more hours to digest and leave waste behind.  Waste must be stored if the energy is not available to cleanse.  Stored waste means more fat.

What are living foods? Fruits, vegetables, and raw nuts.

Does this way of eating sound boring to you? I think sandwiches and hamburgers are not only boring but also congestive.

Following,  is the key to staying slim all year around and still socialize and have fun.

Eat clean during the weak (living complex carbs). Drink more herbal teas than water. Fortune Delight is a delicious tea that is more hydrating than water and naturally assists the body in fat maintenance. It also aids in digestion.  I drink it all day long.

Only drink alcohol on the weekends. Only eat processed foods when socializing. When drinking alcohol, abstain from eating too much.

Supplementing with Chinese herbal food formulas sets the foundation for your entire diet.  These assist the body in digestion, purification, and rebuilding.  Get good at these 3 bodily functions and not only will you stay slim without dieting but you will also stay young!

Begin drinking Fortune Delight and eating Nuplus today and start losing right away!

Spring Cleaning

How many of you out there do a spring cleaning on your body? It is very common for Americans to cleanse in the fall and spring. Typically the cleanse lasts 10 days to 2 weeks. It is done by fasting, drinking shakes, using medicinal herbs, and cleansing teas. The master cleanse which was very popular uses lemon juice, maple syrup, and water.

Why do we need to put ourselves in a cleanse in the first place? Because we read somewhere that we’re probably toxic and need to put the body through a detox which will give us better health. How many of you out there cleansed, felt good for awhile, then in a month…back to the same old body…cravings and all?

You have organs in your body which clean. They include the liver, kidney, and intestines. When these primary organs are overloaded, the secondary organs which are the skin and lungs take out the garbage…or attempt to. If we have cleansing organs, why do we become toxic? Could it be that you’re eating an acidic diet high in animal fats and proteins, processed sugars such as in juices, breads, and pastas? Sodas, milk, canned and boxed foods are also big contributors to toxicity.

What are the symptoms of toxicity? Fatigue (if you drink coffee and soda…you have chronic fatigue), constipation, bloating, poor skin, allergies, and any kind of diagnosed illness are all symptoms of toxicity. The body in its natural state never needs to be stimulated. Do you know how much electrical energy the body contains?? It should be non-acceptable to you to experience fatigue and have to use stimulants to get through life.

Instead of forcing the body into an artificial cleanse (which is always ineffective for long term health)..how about feeding the body what it needs to cleanse itself every day. Just like the outside, the inside needs to clean up every day. You wash your hair and your face, how about washing your insides every day.

Throughout the day and every day, you should be nourishing, balancing, and cleansing. If you do this, the short term forceful detoxes are no longer needed. It is harmful to stimulate the body into cleanse. It only squeezes more energy out of the already exhausted and hungry organs. The organs need ample raw materials to do all of their functions at an optimal level and this includes cleansing. Fasting is a good idea to rest the digestive system but there is a way to completely rest the digestive system and nourish the body at the same time! This is the optimal way to allow the body to self purify.

Give the body passive raw materials that require no digestion. Do this every day, along with eating a healthy diet of fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds and your cravings will change, you will cleanse and be on your way to a life filled with energy and youth.

The Chinese knew how to formulate soups and teas that can be eaten daily for youth and longevity. For more information on these formulas, email drjane@myherbalfoods.com for a free report.

The Wounded Healer

Experiences. They happen to all of us. Some experiences do not influence, but just fill up time. Others change our lives. As a healer, and having gone through some personal health challenges, I strive to see the reason for these experiences. My innermost being knows why, however the part of the mind that is attached to ego resists and argues until I’m blue in the face and exhausted.

I believe that “unfortunate” experiences, whether physical, financial, or relational, teach us compassion more than anything else. I believe this must be the purpose for such experiences. Having a medical background takes away compassion towards our patients/clients. After all, we are at the bedside not in the bed. We listen to the ailments of the client but we are not taught empathy. My personal health challenges, and there have definitely been some significant ones, have brought into my work a little more compassion each time I come through to the other side. The outcome? A better healer.

But aren’t we all Wounded Healers? We all have experiences that we can share with another who might be going through something similar. By sharing, we inspire others to keep going because they can see that we got through it. They see that because of it, our minds are stronger today. We become more human because of our life challenges. Wounded, we go out as healers into the world because we can’t help but to tell our story when another shares their current suffering with us.

In the midst of the health challenge, it is vitally important to discipline the mind to remain in the moment. Being in the moment minimizes suffering. Focusing on a positive outcome and being open to the big reason why it happened will inspire us to complete the process all the way through to the intended outcome. Silence, the breath, and healthy nourishment will aid in an efficient recovery. Some listen to tapes to keep the mind from going awry, others practice mantras. Try a couple techniques to see which one fits you the best and keep practicing. When a day or two are lost to the mind, with a sense of compassion return to your practice. It will always be there..waiting for you like a best friend. At the conclusion of the health challenge, remember to journal because it’s easy to forget all that we did to save ourselves. And when you need help again, you can refer back to the journal for remembrance.

No doubt, we are all Wounded Healers going out into the world and sharing the gifts harvested from our crops of unfortunate experiences.

Lose Fat And Feel Great With Fortune Delight!

There is a reason why consumers like Sharon Stone drink fortune.

WHAT CAUSES BELLY FAT?

A significant cause of excess belly fat is acidity and dehydration. A diet high in acidic foods causes the body to retain fat and water in order to cushion the crucial organs from exposure to acid. Another reason, especially for women are hormones. Estrogen is a hormone that builds tissue and expands fat. When this hormone is not being properly metabolized by the liver, it can build up in the body and increase body fat.

Whether it is acidity or your hormones, Fortune Delight is a beverage known for its effects on fat metabolism. Because all of its ingredients are plants, the water you add the formula to becomes alkaline. Drinking this delicious beverage throughout the day will hydrate and alkalize your tissues. Fortune is also known for breaking down fats. A good test to demonstrate this is putting oil on your hands and using fortune to wash off the oil. Plain water will not mix into oil, it only separates it. Add the herbal formula and the oil dissolves. This is what happens to the inside of your body when drinking fortune.

In addition to breaking down fat, hydrating, and alkalizing the tissues, Fortune Delight nourishes the liver and lubricates the intestines and joints. It is a whole food source for anti-oxidants. This perfectly safe drink is free from stimulants of any kind and young children love it as a replacement for soda. It is the beverage of choice for the Israeli Olympic Team.

To learn more about this beverage and Chinese Herbal Foods, you are invited to join us for a Wellness Seminar Monday evening, Dec. 7th at 6:30p.m. As space is limited, you must RSVP to attend.  Location will be at BodyWise Chiropractic in Tempe.

Can The Body Heal From Trauma?

Trauma to the body is acute injury to a particular tissue of the body.  That tissue could be skin, bone, muscle, or part of an internal organ.  Trauma is frightening because of its sudden onset and often dramatic symptoms.  Our fear seems to drive our car right into the doctors office and into a treatment.  Yes, treatment is often necessary in extreme trauma such as in an accident, etc. After the treatment to set the bone or stop the bleeding, then what?

We often think we are completely healed from the trauma after the treatment is concluded.  But that is usually not the case.  More often than not scar tissue develops following tissue injury or from the treatment itself.  The blood circulation to the area may be slower because of vessel damage.  A low grade infection might persist.  It is very common to hear a patient say something like, “My leg has never been the same since…..”.  Or, “my digestion is a lot slower since that procedure they did after my car accident….”.

Treatments themselves can be traumatic and many times produce scar tissue.  Surgery on the sinuses and ears are well known for the scar tissue they produce.  Root canals have been known for some unfavorable long term consequences.  Radiation for cancer causes serious trauma to the skin and mucosa.  Not to mention what the radioactive particles are doing to the blood.  So which is worse, the original injury or the injury done on the tissues from the treatment? It’s hard to tell and it depends on the situation.

One thing is for sure, it is our responsibility to carry on with the healing process after we leave the doctor’s office.  This will ensure a more complete healing and the avoidance of unwanted side effects from the treatment.  Enzymes in concentrated whole foods help the body break down internal scar tissue.  Herb foods contain thousands of plant chemicals that serve as natural antibiotics, cleansers, tissue builders, and anti-oxidants.  These plant chemicals are much more powerful than the common vitamins that are heavily marketed such as Ascorbic Acid and Calcium.  By eating the whole plant, you are getting everything in small amounts instead of a few isolated chemicals in huge doses.  The body’s cells are very tiny and live off a variety of nutrients.  The earth has offered us the perfect food, so why mess with it.

A guy in Mesa was ran over by a car going 45 miles per hour.  The doctors said he would be paralyzed if he even lived.  His family fed him concentrated herb foods through his feeding tube.  Not only is he not paralyzed but he is living a full life with a family.  Maybe it was the herbs or maybe it was just the sheer force of this man’s vital force.  But even vital force can be depleted by dead foods or enlivened by living pure foods.

With an unshakable faith, knowledge, and the right raw materials….I say YES, the body can heal from trauma!

Emotions and Organs

Depression and Anger, two emotions that can destroy relationships, affect our careers and negatively impact our health.

There is the type of emotions that are reactions to circumstances, and then there’s the depression and underlying anger that become a part of daily life; When it’s chronic, you may wonder where it’s coming from and how you can be free of it.  Body and mind are connected and when you have to take meds to bring out your joy…something is clearly out of balance in the body.

Did you know that each organ system has an emotional vibration? The Chinese recognized this long ago. The 5 major organ systems are: Immune (wood), Endocrine (fire), Digestive (earth), Respiratory (metal), and Circulatory (water).

Anger is the emotion for the Wood element which encompasses the liver, gall bladder, and immunity. If you have too much anger or suppressed anger, this could manifest into liver stagnation or a hyperactive immune system.  Conversely, liver stagnation can certainly manifest into anger.

Joy is the emotion for the Fire element which encompasses all of your glands, small intestine, and heart.  Depression results from deficient Qi in one or more of these systems.

Worry is the emotion for the Earth element which encompasses your stomach and spleen.  I am sure you have experienced stomach trouble from worrying too much.

Grief is the emotion for the Metal element which encompasses your lungs and colon. If you have suppressed grief, this could result in lung weakness.

Fear is the emotion for the Water element which encompasses your blood circulation and your kidneys. Urinary tract infections and poor circulation could result from having too much fear in your life.

How do we balance our systems and emotions? I eat an herbal food formula called Quinary 3x per day. This 50 plant formula feeds and balances all 5 major systems. For more information on Quinary, go to my contact page and email me. I will send you a free report on this formula.

Staying Thin For The Holidays

Here are some simple tips…

Drink green tea first thing in the morning. The one I drink is called Calli tea which nourishes the liver and kidneys. Do a hard workout that morning. Avoid late night eating.
Fill yourself with the side dishes first, since these are usually vegetarian, then go after the meat and stuffing. Drink herbal tea after the meal and take a walk with your favorite relative.
Don’t take leftovers home; or if you are the host let your guests take them home.
Sleep in the next day to give the body extra energy to digest and clean.
Eat fresh fruits and vegetables and drink herbal tea all the next day to rest the digestive system and provide extra fiber for cleansing.
Eat clean between Thanksgiving and X-mas, aside from the occasional parties.
Always take the next day for cleansing after each party.
Keep up your exercise throughout the holidays season.

Come to the Center for a detox session where you can immediately lose fat! Email or call for details on how Chinese Herbal Foods can definitely help the body to keep the fat off when vacationing.

Enjoy your holidays without the guilt and leftover fat!

Symptoms of Candida and An Alternative Cure For Candida

Candida affects most Americans whether they’re aware of it or not. The symptoms of candida can be outrageous or subtle. The symptoms seem to be more obvious for women than men. In all cases candida symptoms are highly variable from individual to individual. There is an alternative cure to candida that most are unaware of, and it is not actually a cure but a way of life that is not conducive to the spawning and growth of candida.

Symptoms of Candida

Common symptoms include yeast infections, bloating, brain fog, itchy skin rashes, and fatigue. Not being able to lose weight with diet and exercise, depression, joint pain, headaches, and chronic sinus infections are also known to be the result of systemic candida.

Candida Albicans is a fungus. We live with yeast in low numbers, just like we live with numerous good and bad bacteria in our intestines and on our skin. The symptoms arise from the growth of fungus to higher than normal levels. The symptoms come from the body fighting the undesirable presence. The immune system does not have a specific army for candida, therefore making it quite difficult to heal from it. I myself have struggled with candida many times waiting for my immune system to beat it, like I do when I get a cold. However, I have found that I must be incredibly pro-active in assisting the immune system, and more importantly to create an internal milieu that is unfriendly to yeast.

Alternative Cures to Candida

What makes the internal terrain hostile to Candida? The tissues are high in oxygen, alkaline, and saturated with herbs. In addition to creating a strong and pure internal environment, one must starve out the Candida. Fungus lives on processed sugar, meat, and dairy. However, the most powerful influence on ridding the body of systemic yeast once and for all is to saturate the body with herbs. This can be done safely by consuming herb foods. Delicious and convenient, they are nourishing, satisfying, and assist the body in purifying and balancing all of its systems. They also eliminate the cravings caused by yeast.

What are food herbs? Nuplus, Quinary, Fortune Delight, and Calli Tea. For a free report on herbal foods email me at drjane@myherbalfoods.com or visit www.myherbalfoods.com

Herb Foods vs Herb Medicine

Most Americans have purchased an herbal remedy at a health food store one time or another. They read about their symptoms and discover that there is an herbal remedy for what they have. My background in naturopathic medicine educates fully on medicinal herbs, mostly Western. The Chinese also have a full pharmacopia of herbal remedies used to treat symptoms.

For example, you go to a Chinese doctor and he takes your pulse and looks at your tongue. Based on the pulse/tongue diagnoses he develops an herbal protocol, just for you. This process is applying Western thinking to an Eastern treatment. In ancient Chinese tradition, they ate herbs instead of took herbs. Herbalists were hired by royalty to develop herbal food formulas they could eat every day to lengthen their life and enhance their quality of life. The regenerative saying, “Live Long, Live Well”, encapsulates the goal of royalty. Beauty and longevity was of utmost importance.

I practiced with medicinal herbs on patients and used them to treat my own “illnesses”. Then I discovered that there is no such thing as illness, only imbalances. I know this to be true because when I stopped treating my illness and began to eat in such a way as to correct the underlying imbalance, the symptoms resolved naturally on their own. The same happened with my clients who chose the regenerative approach to addressing their imbalances.

Western examples of herbal foods are garlic, parsley, and cilantro. You can tell by tasting and smelling them that these plants are stronger than carrots and apples. Therein lies the difference between maintenance plants and herbal plants. Herbal plants are powerful and assist the body in re-balancing. They provide an enormous amount of nutrition compared to maintenance plants. Modern Chinese and Western medicine have been researching and isolating active ingredients in the herbs to make tinctures and capsules. Now a consumer can take something isolated for their symptoms.

Once the plant has been processed and its constituents isolated, it is no longer a food. It is a medicine with side effects and should not be taken for long periods of time. There is a place for medicinal herbs just like drugs in a crises situation. However, it takes over for the body and causes a reaction. Herbal foods assist the body to fend for itself and causes a response.

For long term vibrancy, youth, prevention and true healing of current imbalances, I believe herbal foods have proven to be the superior answer to all of these goals.

One company as been able to package the ancient herbal food formulas of royalty to be eaten by people around the world. See below to get a free report.
