Things you need to know before plunging into a weight loss program…

It’s a new year and the natural tendency is to begin a “new diet” to lose weight. By the time May rolls around the inspiration and focus has dwindled down to an occasional workout and salad. I have a personal history of putting forth a lot of effort to keep myself lean when I was in my 20’s. It is ironic that now I workout 90% less than I used to and put no effort into weight loss. And yet, I am substantially leaner than I ever was in those days of dieting and working out like a maniac.

What was the solution for me?

The first step was to nourish my body with the raw materials it needed to balance the systems. What if your weight gain is not due to calorie excess and you go on a calorie restrictive diet? Your metabolism will become sluggish and your nervous system and immune system will suffer. You may become irritable and lifeless due to the energy shortage in your body. Maybe your weight problem is more about Hormones such as estrogen and insulin. These two hormones, in excess cause the fat cells to grow. But maybe the hormones are out of balance because the liver does not have enough raw materials to break them down.

Weight loss is not complicated, it is incredibly simple and long lasting. Long term fat loss AND vitality is not the result of  high protein, low fat and low carb diets. Fat loss is about Abundance, Healing and Balance. It is about nourishing the body at a very deep level and allowing the body to find its own balance for all of its systems, not just the fat maintenance one. By narrowing your focus to just losing weight, you may be putting the other systems at risk, as mentioned above.
